The Invisible Man

The Invisible Man

By H. G. Wells

A really smart scientist named Griffin makes a magic potion that turns him completely invisible, like a ghost! But it also makes him super cold all the time and really mean and lonely, so he wraps up in bandages and hides at a cozy village inn. When people find out his secret, he gets mad, robs stuff, scares everyone, and runs away to boss around a scared tramp while fighting doctors and police. In the end, being invisible makes him crazy and alone, and he dies sadly in the snow, showing that cool powers aren't worth being bad and lonely forever.

⚠️ First Line Challenge

Can you guess the opening line?

The stranger came early in February, one wintry day, through a biting wind and a driving snow, the last snowfall of the year, over the down, walking from Bramblehurst railway station, carrying a little black portmanteau in his thickly gloved hand.
