Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

By Lewis Carroll

Alice is a girl sitting by a river getting bored with her sister's pictureless book when she spots a White Rabbit in a vest checking his pocket watch and saying 'I'm late!' She chases him down a big rabbit hole and falls into a magical place called Wonderland. There, she drinks potions and eats cakes that make her super tiny or giant-sized, meets goofy talking animals like a hookah-smoking Caterpillar and a smiling Cheshire Cat that disappears, hangs out at a crazy forever tea party with the Mad Hatter and March Hare, and has to play croquet with the mean Queen of Hearts who yells 'Off with their heads!' all the time. Finally, Alice yells at everyone, they turn into playing cards flying away, and she wakes up realizing it was all a wild dreamβ€”but she loves how fun kids' dreams are! (728 characters)

⚠️ First Line Challenge

Can you guess the opening line?

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, 'and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice 'without pictures or conversation?'

✍️ From the Author's Desk

"Lewis Carroll, the pen name of mathematician Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, was an Oxford don, photographer, and inventor of games who crafted 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' during a 1862 boat trip for real-life child Alice Liddell. His signature style fuses rigorous logic with gleeful nonsense, pun-filled dialogues, and satirical jabs at Victorian pomposity, captivating generations with dream-logic puzzles."
